2019 MINIMUM WAGE IMPLEMENTATION: State Governor's To Meet With Buhari On Friday

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum will meet with the President Muhammadu Buhari on friday over several issues affecting the state, especially the commencement of next years minimum wage.

The governors had proposed N22, 500 as minimum wage while the Federal Government proposed 24,000.
But the Nigeria Labour Union (NLC) is insisting on N30,000.

Some state governors are still insisting that the states do not have the resources to pay the wage demand put forward by the labour union.

They maintained that the only reason they will accept to pay the N30000 is by retrenching some staff's, an alternative the workers are not willing to accept.

It was gathered the governors met on Thursday to assess the situation before their meeting with the president on Friday.

Mr. Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, Head, Media and Public Affairs, NGF, confirmed that the meeting looked into the issue of the minimum wage as it was going to be part of discussion in the meeting with the President on Friday.

He also used the opportunity to welcome the newly elected Governor of Osun state Gboyega Oyetola into their mist.
