Trump Promises To Donate Ventilators To Nigeria - Lai Mohammed

US President, Donald Trump has offered to donate ventilators to assist Nigeria in the fight against the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that have killed 44 persons so far in the country.

US President, Donald Trump has offered to donate ventilators to assist Nigeria in the fight against the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that has killed 44 persons so far in the country.

According to Nigeria’s minister of information, Lai Mohammed, Trump stated this yesterday while speaking to President Muhammadu Buhari in a telephone conversation.

Lai Mohammed revealed this during yesterday’s media briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 In Abuja.

He said that the conversation between the Presidents was centered on Nigeria’s response to COVID-19 and the US president promised to send across ventilators to Nigeria.

Mohammed said:

“President Buhari today had a phone conversation with President Trump, at the request of the American President.

“The conversation centred on Nigeria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

He said that President Buhari used the opportunity to brief the American leader on the steps Nigeria is taking to prevent the spread of the virus.

Trump, on his part, declared his country’s support for Nigeria and promised to support the government’s effort with ventilators

“For his part, President Trump assured that the United States stand in solidarity with Nigeria in this difficult time and promised to send ventilators to support the country in its fight against the pandemic.

“President Trump also extends his best regards to the people of Nigeria.” Mohammed added

As of April 28, 2020, Nigeria has reported a total of 1,532 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with its death toll at 44.
