Breaking - Nigeria Records Highest COVID-19 Cases, As Total Jumps From 12k To 13k In 24 Hours

On Wednesday, June 9th, 2020,  Nigeria recorded her highest daily confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), as the total confirmed cases jump from 12,801 to 13,464.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made this known in a tweet via it verified Twitter page @NCDCgov, where it stated that 663 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria within the space of 24 hours, the highest figure recorded in a day since the novel virus hits the country.

The health management centre said that out of the 663 new cases recorded, Lagos State added 170 new cases to its tally, 108 in Ogun, 69 in Bauchi, 49 in Ebonyi, 33 in Edo, 30 in Rivers, 26 in each of FCT Abuja and Jigawa, 20 in Delta, 17 in Anambra, 16 in each of Gombe and Kano, 15 in Imo, 14 in Abia, 11 in Borno, 8 in Plateau, 6 in each of Kebbi and Kaduna, 4 in Ondo, 2 in each of Niger and Katsina, and 1 in each of Osun, Ekiti, Kwara and Nasarawa State.

From the report, Mackenzieskyblog gathered that 166 infected patients tested negative and were discharged from the country's isolation centres; while only 4 new deaths cases were reported.

As at the time of compiling this report, Nigeria has now recorded a total number of 13,464 (Thirteen thousand, four hundred and sixty-four) confirmed cases of COVID-19, 4,206 have been discharged, and 365 deaths cases recorded so far.
