BREAKING: Paul Pogba To Quit Playing For France Over President Macron's Comments On 'Islamist Terrorism'
Paul Pogba
France and Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba has allegedly announced his retirement from international football due to comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron in regard to his religion.

The Sun reports that Paul Pogba made the decision following the remarks on Friday after President Emmanuel Macron alleged that Islam was the source of international terrorism.

The French government also honoured the teacher who published offensive images of the prophet Muhammad, which Pogba reportedly resented, are also said to be behind his decision to quit playing for France.

This burgeoning news platform understands that neither the 27-year-old nor the French Football Association, has made any comment on the speculation.

United ace Pogba’s alleged decision comes in the wake of the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty, 47, who was attacked on his way home from school near Paris.

Mr. Paty was awarded the French Legion d'honneur, the highest decoration bestowed by the French state, in recognition of the fact that he died for trying to explain the importance of freedom of speech.

President Macron described the murder of Mr. Paty as an ‘Islamic terrorist attack’, a comment which was said to have angered the French Muslims in the country.

Macron later added that unity and firmness are the only answers to the monstrosity of Islamist terrorism.

According to reports, the decision to give the teacher the Legion d'honneur and the comments made by President Macron were the motivation for his decision to stop playing as a French international.

Pogba allegedly considered the decision an insult to him and to French Muslims, especially since Islam is the second religion in France after Christianity.
