'I Will Ensure The Police Are Fully Accountable To The People' - Buhari Insist On Reforming SARS

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally reacted to the ongoing #ENDSARsProtest going on in Lagos, Abuja, and other cities in the country, saying that he will ensure that the Police are fully accountable to Nigerians.

Nigerian youths led by some top celebrities took to the street of Lagos, Abuja, and other cities in the country to call for the abolishment of SARS Police Operatives, following reports of their brutality, harassments, and incessant killings.

Reacting to this, President Buhari urges Nigerians not to doubt his plans of reforming the Nigerian police in other to put an end to the police brutality and unethical conduct in the country.

"I met again with the IGP tonight. Our determination to reform the police should never be in doubt. I am being briefed regularly on the reform efforts ongoing to end police brutality and unethical conduct and ensure that the Police are fully accountable to the people.

"The IG already has my firm instructions to conclusively address the concerns of Nigerians regarding these excesses, & ensure erring personnel are brought to justice. I appeal for patience & calm, even as Nigerians freely exercise their right to peacefully make their views known.

"The vast majority of men and women of the Nigeria Police Force are patriotic and committed to protecting the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians, and we will continue to support them to do their job."

The Personal Assistant on New Media to the president, Bashir Ahmad had earlier disclosed via his verified Twitter page the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has already briefed President Buhari on the matter.

He said that President Buhari will soon take action on the #ENDSARS protest and his action will be in the best interest of Nigerians

"Good people of Nigeria have every right to protest the #PoliceBrutality or anything they see is not going on well. The President was briefed yesterday by the IG of Police, I am very sure action will be taken and in the best interest of Nigerians. #EndSARSProtests."
