Curtis Jones’ second-half goal made it possible for Liverpool to clinch their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League with another 1-0 win over Dutch champions Ajax.
Curtis Jones' goal was enough for the Reds to clinch a home and away win against Ajax in the group stage of the Uefa Champions League, having beaten them by the same scoreline in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A second-half goal ensured the Reds would progress to the Champions League knockout stages as group winners.
22-year-old academy prospect Caoimhin Kelleher, who stood in for the injured Alisson Becker was required to make a stunning late save from Klaas Jan Huntelaar to protect the points at Anfield.
The news of Atalanta’s shock draw with Midtjylland at home meant the top spot was clinched in Group D by Liverpool with a game to spare.
Liverpool has now joined the likes of Sevilla, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Fc Porto among teams to have qualified for the knock-out stage of the year's Uefa Champions League.
